Underage Drinking

Drinking and driving is a significant contributor to teen deaths, as alcohol impairs judgment and coordination, leading to dangerous decisions. Additionally, youth who drink alcohol are more likely to engage in drug use, further compromising their health and well-being. Underage drinking is also linked to mental health issues, including depression and suicidal behavior, highlighting its harmful psychological effects. Starting alcohol use before the age of 15 significantly increases the likelihood of developing alcohol dependence later in life. Furthermore, alcohol consumption plays a major role in sexual assaults among teens, exacerbating the risks associated with underage drinking
In order to educate teenagers (middle school to high school) about common misperceptions associated with underage drinking, SAPC's current social media/digital billboard campaign uses the theme "Wait...What?" You can view the messaging below, which is being promoted on a variety of platforms, including Instagram, TikTok, SnapChat and digital billboards.
