Tobacco / Nicotine / Vaping

The impact of tobacco use in the United States is alarming. It kills 480,000 people annually across the U.S., underscoring the severe health consequences of smoking and vaping. Flavored vapes are particularly concerning, with 75% containing diacetyl, a chemical linked to respiratory disease. Research has also shown that vaping weakens the immune system, making users more vulnerable to infections and illnesses. 67.4% of students who use e-cigarettes have reported attempting to quit, reflecting the addictive nature of these products. Additionally, 93% of vapers say that vaping increases their stress, depression, or anxiety, exacerbating mental health issues.
In order to educate teenagers (middle school to high school) about common misperceptions associated with tobacco, nicotine and vaping, SAPC's current social media/digital billboard campaign uses the theme "Wait...What?" You can view the messaging below, which is being promoted on a variety of platforms, including Instagram, TikTok, SnapChat and digital billboards.
